The Matting: Professional double-matting using Crescent Select conservation-grade mats. The outer mat in Concrete provides a modern, industrial feel, while the Before Dark inner mat adds a sharp, recessed accent that draws the eye into the artwork.
The Glazing: Fitted with TruVue Conservation Clear® Glass, offering 99% UV protection to prevent fading and ensure the colors remain vibrant for decades.
Restoration & Finish: Restoration and Finish: This is an original 1985 French-printed poster that had previously been mounted to mat board and exhibited significant surface imperfections associated with an earlier owner's treatment. The exact nature of that previous treatment is unknown.After evaluating the poster, including testing whether conventional cleaning and pressing could provide an appropriate solution, we determined that those approaches were not viable without risking further damage to the original surface.To restore the poster's visual presentation and add surface durability, we applied Winsor & Newton Professional Satin Varnish. The resulting uniform satin finish substantially reduces the appearance of the historical surface imperfections while providing additional protection to the printed surface.We want to be transparent that this surface treatment does not meet a strict conservation/preservation-level standard. It was a considered restoration decision made specifically because of the poster's pre-existing condition and treatment history.The poster is then presented using conservation-grade framing materials, including acid-free mats and Tru Vue Conservation Clear glazing providing 99% UV protection.
The Hardware: Equipped with WallBuddies for Metal Frames, ensuring the piece hangs level, flush against the wall, and stays secure.

The Maxell Ad Campaign
Launched in the late 1970s and reaching peak cultural saturation in the 80s, the Maxell "Blown Away" (or "The 500-Series") campaign was designed to prove one thing: the power of high-fidelity sound. The image of a man sitting in a Le Corbusier chair, hair and tie whipped back by the sheer force of his speakers, became a visual shorthand for "cool." While the original ad featured the listener in a living room, this rare Porsche variant swapped the chair for the cockpit of a Targa, merging the adrenaline of German engineering with the intensity of Maxell’s audio tape.
About the Photographer: Steve Steigman
Steve Steigman (1942–2004) was a visionary commercial photographer known for his ability to capture movement and energy in a still frame. Despite the "Blown Away" image becoming a global phenomenon, Steigman famously shot the original session in just one day. His work on this campaign earned him a permanent spot in the advertising Hall of Fame, as he managed to photograph something invisible—sound—and make it look legendary.
