Rejecting cold abstraction, Hanks developed a style he coined "emotional realism," using highly detailed, complex play of sunlight, textures, and drapery to mirror internal human emotions.
Throughout his brilliant career, Hanks earned top honors including the National Watercolor Society Merit Award and the National Academy of Western Art Gold Medal.
