Artwork Description

"Sounds of Sunset" is a masterful panoramic study of light and tranquility by the late master of "wilderness realism," Stephen Lyman. This composition captures the fleeting, golden hour where the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm, rhythmic glow across the water. Known for his ability to paint not just a landscape, but the very atmosphere of the wild, Lyman invites the viewer to experience the silence and the "sounds" of the closing day.

This specific edition carries poignant significance; following Stephen’s untimely passing in 1996, select high-quality editions were authorized by his estate to share his final visions with the public. This print is hand-signed by his wife, Andrea Lyman, on his behalf, maintaining the integrity and legacy of his most cherished works.

Artist Bio: Stephen Lyman

Stephen Lyman (1958–1996) was an explorer of the soul as much as the earth. An avid mountaineer and naturalist, his work went beyond traditional landscape painting to capture the "unseen" elements of the wilderness—the crackle of a campfire, the chill of a mountain breeze, and the elusive play of light. During his prolific career with The Greenwich Workshop, he became one of the most collected wildlife and landscape artists in the world. His legacy continues to inspire those who find solace in the deep woods and high peaks of the American West.
