Description of the Artwork
The Siberians is a powerful testament to Simon Combes' mastery of the Siberian (Amur) Tiger. In this expansive composition, Combes captures a pair of these magnificent predators navigating the deep, silent snows of their northern habitat. The work is celebrated not just for its anatomical precision, but for the "tactile" quality of the tigers' fur against the biting cold of the winter air.
As a Greenwich Workshop release, the print features high-fidelity offset lithography on neutral pH, archival-quality paper. The large format allows the viewer to appreciate the intricate details of the frost-laden environment and the intense, focused expressions of the cats. This edition, limited to 850 prints, has become increasingly difficult to find in Mint, unframed condition since the artist's passing in 2004.
