Peter "Pete" Turner was a prolific fine artist and illustrator based in Cary and Boone, North Carolina. Known for his "Tobacco Heritage" series, Turner’s work serves as a vital historical archive of 20th-century rural life in the Carolinas and Virginia. Before establishing himself as a self-employed artist, he served as the lead illustrator at Ferree Studios in Raleigh and frequently contributed cover art to North Carolina Wildlife and The State magazine. His works are highly prized in regional secondary markets for their historical accuracy, technical precision, and ability to evoke the timeless character of the American South.
