SecondMoonshot can help you sell your collectibles and memorabilia you have had stashed in your attic or basement for years with our Consignment Service. Specializing in (but not limited to) comic books, signed & vintage/antique books, vinyl records, vintage stereo equipment, framed/unframed art, and pop-culture posters/memorabilia. We will work with you and establish goals such as maximize return or move quickly, etc.

We primarily use eCommerce platforms by eBay, Etsy and Amazon as well as our own SecondMoonshot.com hosted site (this site, saving on eCommerce transaction fees). We handle all of the operational components of the selling from research/comps, prep, listings, promotion, sale, packing & shipping, and finally payout to you. All of these services are included in the consignment fee.

SecondMoonshot is insured for "items in trust" (items stored in our warehouse) up to $50,000. Additional coverage can be added on a case-by-case basis.

Vocabulary

• Consignor = You, the one who has ownership of the goods to be sold.

• Consignee = Us, the ones who will sell your goods on your behalf.

Fees & Payouts

• Our standard consignment fee is 40% for listed items under $300 and 35% for listed items greater than that. For larger inventories or inventories of high value, this is negotiable.

• Payouts to Consignor happens on or before the 15th of the month following the closing month (Ex. Consignor will get paid for January sales by February 15th).  

• Net proceeds is determined by the Total Sale price minus applicable sales tax, calculated shipping, promotional and transaction fees from the eCommerce Platform. This final "net proceeds" is used to determine the consignment fee percent and your payout. No credit card surcharges are passed on to the Consignor, SecondMoonshot absorbs that cost.

• For NC sales, local sales tax is collected and paid to NCDOR on a quarterly basis by SecondMoonshot.

• Any shipping discounts achieved are solely retained by SecondMoonshot and are used to cover shipping supplies and overhead. While all products listed on SecondMoonshot.com are Free Shipping, the calculated retail shipping is still deducted from the total net proceeds.

• Payouts can be done via Zelle, Paypal, Venmo, or Check via USPS Mail and will be accompanied by a full detailed statement listing all transactions, expenses and fees.

• SecondMoonshot does not issue any tax forms or summaries, it is the responsibility of the Consignor to track revenue and factor that into appropriate tax filing using the detailed monthly sales summary which accompanies all payouts.

Terms

• SecondMoonshot primarily uses eCommerce platforms by eBay, Amazon and Etsy as well as our own eCommerce platform SecondMoonshot.com; expanding out to other specialized platforms on a case-by-case basis. We select the most appropriate eCommerce platform for the items to be listed.

• All items to be sold MUST be stored at the SecondMoonshot warehouse. This is required to provide timely delivery and control the quality of our packaging.

• Communication with Consignor will primarily be through e-mail and text for questions and follow-up.

• Listing platform, price, and format (Buy It Now or Auction) are at the sole discretion of SecondMoonshot. Listing prices are based on historical sales over last 12 months, market data, saturation of similar item listings, and pure research when other history is not available. Any offers from potential buyers are at the sole discretion of SecondMoonshot to accept, deny, or counter-offer.

• Listing prices will be periodically be reviewed and adjusted based on changes in market, saturation of similar items, duration on market, number of views and watchers, etc. 

• All shipping materials are included in the consignment fee.

• Specialized pre-sale expenses will be listed on monthly transaction report and deducted from total payout and thus the responsibility of the Consignor. Examples of this might be comic book bags and boards, comic book grading fees, authentication services, etc.. These expenses will usually increase the estimated sale price and should be considered an investment but are not guaranteed to increase the final sold price. We will discuss these expenses prior to commitment.

• SecondMoonshot is a Top Seller on eBay and any returns by buyer will be deducted from the following months payout. Return shipping costs will be paid for by SecondMoonshot. Items returned will be relisted, discarded, or allowed to be kept by buyer at the sole discretion of SecondMoonshot.

• All items must be of a size which can be practically shipped via USPS, UPS, or Fedex without oversize fees; we do not wood crate or ship via Freight services at this time.

• Any item damaged by SecondMoonshot after delivery to warehouse will be compensated by SecondMoonshot at fair market value and having the consignment fee applied. Fair market value will be the current listing price if already listed, general market data, or agreed value. Then normal consignment fees will be applied, effectively treating it like it was thus sold and normal payout applied. Note this is a very rare event.

• No contract is required and active unsold listings can be cancelled at any time and for any reason (give 24 hours notice to remove listings). Unsold items can be picked up at our warehouse by Consignor at any time. Any and all expenses paid by SecondMoonshot for pre-sale efforts on unsold items will be invoiced to Consignor and must be paid prior to pick-up / return. 

• If items are to be shipped to SecondMoonshot, the cost of shipping  will be on the Consignor. Any returned items to be shipped back to the Consignor will be paid for by SecondMoonshot (i.e. should you wish to terminate the service).
